Experience Applied Personally
A native Kentuckian, I attended the University of Kentucky where I graduated with a Baccalaureate of Science in Biology with honors. During my time in college, I received several recognitions including the Dean's list, Academic Excellence, Golden Key National Honor Society, Mortar Board Senior Honorary Society, and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Undergraduate Research Award.
I then took a position with the bone marrow transplant research program at the Lucille P Markey Cancer Center. Our work was published in the journal Blood.
I was accepted into the six year MD/JD combined degree program at Southern Illinois University. Research with the plastic surgery department resulted in two publications into our prestigious Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery journal. I also published a chapter in Ethics, Law & Aging Review, Volume 7.
I then entered into the integrated five year plastic surgery postgraduate training program at UTMB Galveston. During this time, I published a chapter in Current Problems In Surgery, presented on numerous topics, and won the Texas Society of Plastic Surgery for best scientific paper presentation.
I am board certified by the American Society of Plastic Surgery and have 18 years of experience.
